If you've found yourself on our page, you are probably expecting a new little blessing, or someone you are close to is!  We are glad you found us!

In the nearly 13 years of working with expecting moms through my maternity and newborn portrait work, I've had 100s of great conversations about motherhood and baby care, and I've found that no matter how well prepared you are, there are always more questions.  Things like feeding types and schedules, soothing, diapering, traveling with baby, work return, what to buy and what not to bother with, delivery and after care...the list goes on.  I've loved helping moms by sharing my own experiences raising 7 kids, but I wanted to offer more to help my new moms feel confident entering this amazing new phase in their lives.  So, I'm launching "New Motherhood, the Mini Conference".

In this half day event, I hope to serve you with a fun and relaxing educational event that will shower you with solid advice from a variety of experts on an array of topics to help you navigate this new territory.  We sure can't cover everything you'll need to know, but we can hit some valuable topics to help you prepare, some of which you maybe haven't even thought about.

Our event will be structured to not only help you connect with experts and seasoned mentor moms, but will also give you the chance to socialize with and meet other expecting moms.  We hope these connections will help you build new friendships that will foster a support network in your life for years to come.  We know that loneliness and overwhelm can be a significant issue for new moms, so finding your tribe now will be so beneficial.

To foster ongoing growth with these connections, we have a comprehensive plan, including regular coffee meet ups with round table discussions, and an expecting moms Facebook group where we can continue the conversation and relationship building!

COST:  We wanted to make this event free, but because space is limited and we have secured an outside venue to accommodate us, we are asking for a small reservation of $12 to ensure that no one misses out while there are empty seats that could have been filled by others.

Elizabeth Aviles, Nurse Midwife

Elizabeth, a certified nurse midwife from Plano, has attended over 1,200 births since 2011. Initially a labor and delivery nurse, she quickly realized that hospitals prioritizing profit and provider convenience over natural birth experiences were not the ideal environment for women seeking natural childbirth. This led her to establish Baby Catcher, PLLC, a midwifery-led home birth practice advocating for personalized and intimate natural births.

Dr. Aleesia Isom, Physical Therapist - Empowering your Body and your Pelvic Floor

Dr. Aleesia Isom completed her Doctorate of Physical Therapy at the University of North Texas Health Science Center in Fort Worth. She discovered her passion to specialize in pelvic floor dysfunctions through her own struggles with pelvic health and seeing a great need for pelvic health therapists during her clinical rotations. Aleesia is motivated to provide exceptional therapy to all her patients through patient-centered care with one-on-one sessions, treating with evidence-based practice, and striving to be a lifelong learner. In her free time, Aleesia enjoys tail walks with her two Aussie Mixes (Boots and Sneakers), traveling to new cities with friends, and running marathons around the world.

Liz James, Pharmacist Holistic Health Coach - A Hollistic Approach to Vaccines, Pharmaceuticals, and Baby Health

Liz James is a pharmacist, a holistic health coach, and an organic farm girl. Ten years into her 34+ year career as a pharmacist, she began exploring alternative health and wellness options as safe and effective tools used to heal her own body. She holds a unique perspective derived from having spent decades in both the pharmaceutical and holistic worlds. She enjoys helping and empowering people through education so that they may make informed decisions which will impact the trajectory of their (and their family's) health.

Karen Wood, Professional Photographer - Documenting the Day to Day at Home with Your New Baby

Karen has worn many hats in her life, but she is most grateful for her dream role as Mom and Grammy. As an only child who dreamed of raising a house full of kids, she entered the world of parenting with no idea how to be a parent and little support. She knows how scary it can feel to hold a precious little life in your arms and wonder if you are doing it "right". She hopes New Motherhood, the Mini Conference will be a blessing and support to many new mothers as they start their journey into the most important job they'll ever have.

Dr. Troy Newmyer, Chiropractor, "Breech Babies, Pregnancy and Chiropractic Care"

Dr. Troy followed in his parents' footsteps in becoming a chiropractor, as a 2001 graduate of the "Fountainhead of Chiropractic", Palmer College in Davenport, Iowa. He practiced in Iowa until 2019 when he realized his long-time plan to make McKinney, Texas his home. He has a heart for the North Texas Community and educating it on the powers of Chiropractic Healing.
